The Dalai Lama once said,
I never look at human beings as the president or king or prime minister or beggar. In my eyes all are the same. So whenever I meet these people I say, “Look at them, they are just other human beings…our brothers and sisters.” So this also creates more peace in my mind.
I learned this lesson the hard way. When I was in university I was the VP Corporate Development of our local chapter of AIESEC, an international student organization that facilitates international work exchanges. Even though I had the fancy title, I never viewed myself as a VP; I still viewed myself as a university student. Therefore I didn’t feel confident marketing the exchange program to employers.
It truly was an invaluable lesson to learn, I came to realize, as the Dalai Lama said, we are all the same. We are all people.
